Bergamot is named after the city of Bergamot in Lombardy, Italy, where the fruit was first cultivated, in the 18th century. A small tree with smooth oval leaves and small round fruit, Bergamot is also grown commercially on the Ivory Coast exclusively for the essential oil, which is cold pressed from the peel of the nearly ripened fruit.
Most often used to support the digestive system and rejuvenate the skin, it also have emotional benefits. It calms and soothes while promoting healthy, clear skin. Emotionally, it helps with self-acceptance and allows us to find validation from within.
The entire plant emits a strong citrus aroma, but most like that of the tropical tree, orange bergamot and the blossoms provide the flavouring for the famous Earl Grey tea. It has refreshing, stimulating and uplifting properties that are welcome when we feel fatigued, stressed or anxious.

How to Use: For topical application: Mix 4-20 drops of essential oil with 10 ml of carrier oil.
For local application: Apply to affected area up to three times per day.
For body massage: Apply once daily.
For Steam inhalation: Add 6-24 drops of undiluted essential oil to a bowl of steaming water/facial steamer. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5-10 minutes. Up to three times per day. Do not use essential oils undiluted.
