Natural Yeast Infection Treatments with Essential Oils Over-the-counter natural yeast infection remedies are highly sought after with ¾ women experiencing this itchy annoyance periodically throughout their lives. They occur when a fungus or yeast known as Candida albicans is allowed to grow too much, usually because the amount of healthy bacteria “down there” is out of balance, often resulting from hormonal changes, medications (antibiotics especially), etc. Below are a few natural yeast infection remedies using essential oils.
Using Tea Tree Oil on a Tampon as a Natural Yeast Infection Remedy This natural yeast infection remedy using tea tree oil is becoming more and more popular as women become aware of it. You can use this same method with lavender oil as well. It can be very effective, but you have to make sure that you aren’t allergic to these essential oils. Also, we do not recommend using this method if you’re pregnant.
Remove a tampon from its applicator and add 1 drop of your chosen essential oil onto the tampon, re-insert into the applicator, then insert into the vagina. Leave the tampon in the vagina for no more than 4 hours. Repeat twice a day.
Natural Yeast Infection Remedies in the Bath If you prefer not to use a tampon for whatever reason, there are other methods you can use. You can create a bath oil using tea tree, lavender or patchouli (also known to be helpful against yeast infections) with a carrier oil (10-20 drops of essential oil per 30ml). Alternatively, you can use any of these essential oils directly in a bath (10-20 drops) or try any of our lavender bath products.
