Escents philosophy is to work hard to launch products that are safe, effective and kind to the environment. We are committed to living well and our Mantra is that we are all “born from nature” and so, as our products will be put onto your bodies, they must also come from nature. We always do our best. We work hard to keep up with the latest ingredients and safest alternatives to things like Laurel Sulphates, parabens and preservatives. We believe less is more. Simple as possible. We believe that taking great care of your skin means understanding what you put on it. Especially since most of what goes on your body, makes its way into your body. The good, the bad and the ugly. So we’ve created body care and aromas that don’t just smell nice, they are nice.

Essential oils and herbs transform the earth’s nutrients into a form that our bodies can utilize. We then utilize these whole, living plant essences in our products so you can benefit from their vitamins, minerals and essential oils in the purest way possible.

Our fragrances are DPG free and Phalate free. Our essential oils are all therapeutic quality…the list goes on but needless to say, we are extremely proud of the beautiful products we sell and over the 20 years in business we have morphed with each new piece of information on ingredients, different methods of manufacturing our products continue to become more and more natural.

Natural Defined

Due to the lack of government regulation in the natural products industry, and the misuse of the word as a marketing term, we felt it was important to define what natural means to us.

That means…

We only use ingredients that are found in nature and have a positive effect on our bodies.
By “found in nature” we mean ingredients that can be harvested and used in their original form or ingredients that can be extracted from plants or minerals e.g. beeswax and essential oils.
We never use natural ingredients that have a harmful effect on the body and/or environment e.g. mineral oil, talc.
We will avoid using ingredients that are manufactured and synthesized so they do not resemble any molecular structure that occurs in nature, even if they are made from natural plant or mineral ingredients e.g. sodium laurel sulphate (SLS).
We will consider using ingredients that are found in nature but are only available when produced to be nature-identical for environmental and sustainability reasons.

Feel Good. We are all meant to feel good in life; it's in our nature. When we feel good, we give more back to the people around us, and our planet.

Escents Aromatherapy is founded on the idea that everyone should feel good, body and mind. For one person, it's about creating a personal oasis in which to relax. For another, it's about relieving headache pain so they can do the things they love. No matter what the need, nature has the power to provide and make us all feel good. It gives in every way imaginable, nourishing & healing our bodies and stimulating our minds, creating a truly soulful experience of life. Above all else: if it’s in our products, it’s on our labels.

We are based in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, we are a small, independent manufacturer of aromatherapy body care. But more than that, we are a community of like-minded people who believe in creating products that help rather than harm at every stage of their life cycle. Our products have been designed with intention. Therapeutic for both mind and body. As much as possible, beneficial for both people and the planet. Created and curated by a small group of dedicated individuals for all kinds of people and all kinds of skin.

We strive to consider our nature, ecosystem and planet in all of our activities and decisions. Our journey to zero impact is ongoing and endless. Nature is our most precious commodity. It nurtures us, so we work to serve nature and preserve it. What we choose to consume today, directly impacts how we – and future generations – will live tomorrow. You only have one body and we only have one planet.

Our Environmental Practices

Biodegradable. Our products are natural, biodegradable and aren’t harmful to natural watersheds and ecosystems.
Minimal packaging. We don’t over-package and are careful to ask “Do we really need this?” before a product goes into a box or bag. Our packaging is selected and sourced with sustainability in mind. We only use secondary packaging when absolutely necessary. Whenever possible, we print on recyclable or recycled paper with vegetable inks.
Shipping. We pack our shipments with biodegradable, cornstarch peanuts and re-use, then recycle them.
Reduce, Re-use, Recycle. These are things we just do without thought or hesitation. It is a fundamental part of our way of doing things at Escents and we encourage behaviors in our staff that help reduce waste and environmental damage.
Cruelty-free. Our products are not tested on animals. Not now. Not in the past. Not ever.
