Natural Sore Throat Remedies with Essential Oils
Natural sore throat remedies using essential oils are can be an effective way of treating this common ailment. Sore throats usually occur as a result of a bacterial infection, but it can also result from over-aggressive use of the voice box from yelling, singing, or even coughing. Below are a number of different natural home remedies for sore throat using essential oils.
Vapour Therapy for Sore Throat Using Essential Oils
A steam inhalation is a deeply penetrating method of treating sore throats. Bring a kettle of water to a boil then pour into to a large bowl. Add 5 drops of either our Respiration or our Pure Immunity essential oil blends. Some pure essential oils that are also good choices include: eucalyptus, rosemary, tea tree, lemon, lavender, rose, sandalwood, or bergamot. Bring your face over top of the bowl then cover both your head and the bowl with a towel. Breathe deeply for 10 – 15 minutes. Therapeutic Essential Oil Bath & Massage for Sore Throat
A nice, warm bath is a great way to soothe the aching muscles that come with illness and, when combined with essential oils, you can simultaneously treat your sore throat. Add 10 – 20 drops of any of the essential oils or essential oil blends listed below, or try any of our lavender bath products. Essential Oil Neck Wrap for Treating Sore Throat This neck wrap helps reduce swelling in your glands and helps keep bacteria away while your throat recovers. Combine 2 drops of lavender, 2 drops of bergamot, 1 drop of tea tree oil and 2 cups of hot water. Soak into it a soft cloth and wring it out. Wrap the cloth around your neck then cover with a towel thin enough to hold the heat. Repeat 2 – 3 times a day. |
