How can Aromatherapy help prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus?
The regular use of essential oils can drastically help improve one's immune system and resistance to seasonal strains of the flu. This year, there is far more concern over this particular virus as it attaches to the deep lung tissue and can create a bad viral pneumonia causing people who have contracted it to be far sicker than flu strains from previous years. Further, the H1N1 is disproportionally infecting high risk groups such as children under 5, pregnant women and seemingly healthy robust young people in general.
There are simple steps that we can take to help prevent he spread of germs:
1. Cover nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. 2. Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer. 3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. 4. If you are sick with flu-like symptoms, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever has broken.
Aromatherapy can also play a part in helping reducing the risk of contracting H1N1 or any other flu or cold virus. Essential oils can keep the immune system healthy and better able to ward off bacterial that can lead to illness. The following are simple steps we can take to help protect ourselves from illness. Remember that aromatherapy is not a substitute for professional medical care and cannot replace traditional medicine when needed.
