Aromatherapy Using Essential Oils for Oily Hair Oily hair responds well to essential oils that either balance or reduce sebum (oil) production. By using essential oil enriched shampoos and hair treatments rather than ones that are chemically derived, you can get oily hair under control, with less chances of negative side effects like scalp/skin irritation. Below are a few ways you can use essential oils to help with oily hair.
Essential Oil Shampoos and Conditioners for Dandruff There are a number of essential oils that can help with dandruff, including: eucalyptus, tea tree, lemon, rosemary, cedarwood, geranium, peppermint, cypress, clary sage and neroli. Using shampoos that contain a combination of these essential oils regularly is a good practice for those who have oily hair. Our Stimulate Shampoo and Conditioner, with peppermint and rosemary, are good choices. If you also suffer from dandruff, our Vitalize Shampoo for Dandruff/Psoriasis with eucalyptus and tea tree is an ideal choice.
Essential Oil Hair Treatment for Oily Hair
You can also make a simple hair treatment to help control oily hair throughout the day. Simply add 8 drops to 3 oz. of water and put into a spray bottle. The water and tea tree oil mixture can be spritzed onto the hair throughout the day to prevent oil production and improve the appearance of flat, oily hair.
