Aromatherapy Using Essential Oils for Hyperactivity (ADHD) Hyperactivity also known as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a fairly common condition in children. Parents have become wary of drug-based solutions for this condition and many are turning to natural solutions to help their children. Aromatherapy using essential oils is one way that has been researched as being an effective option. Below are a few ways you can use aromatherapy for ADHD and other forms of hyperactivity.
Essential Oil Air Therapy for ADHD/Hyperactivity One of the easiest, most effective ways to use aromatherapy to treat ADHD is to use an ultrasonic diffuser to disperse the benefits of essential oils into the air your child breathes, whether it's in their bedroom or play area. A number of essential oils have been identified as having therapeutic effects on ADHD including: cedarwood (especially so), frankincense, lavender, orange and chamomile. Try adding drops of one or more of these into a diffuser, or try one of our essential oil blends like Calm or Soothe.
On-the-Go Air Therapy for ADHD/Hyperactivity Sometimes it's not practical to use an ultrasonic diffuser, whether it's because you're travelling, out doing activities, or staying somewhere other than you're home. A good way to get the same benefits is to use a spray mist. You can create your own using our unscented spray mist and 20 drops of your choice of the essential oils specified. Or you can try our Calm Spray Mist or our Lavender Spray Mist.
