Aromatherapy Germ Prevention using Essential Oils Essential oils can be used effectively to prevent the spread of germs to help minimize bacterial and viral infections like colds and flu. Essential oils such as tea tree, lavender, orange, lemon, lime, clove, cedarwood, cypress, grapefruit, juniper, pine, lemongrass, neroli, niaouli, patchouli, peppermint, rose, sandalwood, clary sage, and ylang ylang all have antiseptic qualities, and can be used to help with germ prevention. Some of these essential oils also have anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and anti-viral qualities, including tea tree, grapefruit, and rose.
