Essential Oils for Foot, Ankle and Leg Swelling Whether it's from pregnancy, poor circulation, or any other cause, swollen feet, ankles and legs are very uncomfortable. Essential oils can be used to help relieve foot, ankle and leg swelling. Below are a few methods to naturally relieve this condition using essential oils. In addition to these methods, try to elevate your feet at least 8 inches above your heart several times a day. This helps the extra fluid in the ankles and feet to move back towards the heart and away from the ankles, feet and lower legs.
Essential Oil Foot Bath for Foot, Ankle & Leg Swelling
Fill a large container with warm or cool water, depending on your preference. If you're pregnant or the climate is hot, cool water will feel better. If there is stiffness in the area, warm water will help. Add 2 drops of lavender oil, 1 drop of lemon oil and 1 drop of geranium oil. Soak the affected area for 5 - 10 minutes and no longer otherwise it could make things worse.
Essential Oil Massage for Foot, Ankle & Leg Swelling
If you like, once a day, follow up with an essential oil massage. You can use our Revitalizing Foot and Leg Lotion to do this, or you can create your own massage oil using our foot, ankle and leg swelling massage oil recipe. Massage either choice into the feet, moving up to the
ankles all the way up to the knee. Always work from the feet to the knees; this
will help work the extra fluid up and away from the feet and ankles.
