Below are several quick tips and tricks on using aromatherapy and
essential oils to solve some everyday problems. We recently had some
team members from Escents Richmond send in some amazing advise on hand & cuticle care and customer favorite, Headache Relief Roll-on. See below for those great tips:
HAND CARE
1. Take half or a quarter of a bath bomb and hot water and soak hands for 15 minutes for great moisturized and smooth skin. 2. Gently rub Rejuvenating or Lavender Salt Scrub on hands for soft exfoliated skin, also helps remove any dead skin. 3. For cuts and scrapes drop Lavender Oil on to help the healing process and prevent scaring. 4. Use a thicker organic Hand Repair Cream for eczema or really dry chapped hands during the Winter Season. 5. Rub a teaspoon of massage oil on hands to help prevent dry skin at least twice a week.
CUTICLE CARE
1. Take a small amount of rejuvenating or lavender scrub and gently rub on nail or dry/ chapped cuticles. 2. Use Soy wax or a massage bar on dry peeling cuticles, and take a cuticle remover to properly remove or take a cuticle pusher to push down and the remove. 3. For quick nail growth use/ rub skin repair butter on nail.
HEADACHE RELIEF ROLL-ON
1. Roll on your temples and jaw line for instant headache relief. 2. Summer Road trip? Roll the peppermint and lavender on your temples and wrists to relieve your nausea, dizziness, and anxiety. 3. Roll the stick on your skin for relief of muscle pain, aches and Fevers! 4. Roll on your scalp and on a rash (psoriasis) to relieve the itchy sensation. 5. Roll on the bottom of your feet to increase circulation and cool down your feet during the hot summer months.
1 | For scentsational smelling towels,
sheets, clothes, etc. place a few drops of any combination of essential
oils or aroma blends onto a small piece of terry cloth and toss into
the clothes dryer while drying, Add 5 drops essential oil to 1/4 cup
fabric softener or water and place in the center cup of the wash.
2 | Potpourri which has lost its scent can be revived by adding any combination of essential oils or aroma blends.
3 | For an air freshener,
add a tea spoon of alcohol and a few drops of of any combination of
essential oils or aroma blends to water in a spray bottle.
4 | Scent your space by adding any combination of essential oils or aroma blends to a pan of water and simmer on the stove or in a diffuser.
5 | To enjoy a scented candle, place of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends into the hot melted wax as the candle burns.
6 | To dispel household cooking odors add of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends to your forced air vents.
7 | For tired aching muscle or arthritis aches, mix one part Lavender, Rosemary or Peppermint to 4 parts Jojoba or other vegetable oil and use as a massage oil.
8 | Ease headache pain by rubbing a drop of Rosemary and Lavender oil onto the back of your neck. Even better, use Escents Headache Relief roll-on.
9 | Blend your own massage oil, add 5 drops of your favourite essential oil to 1 oz Jojoba oil or other skin nourishing vegetable oil.
10 | For a great carpet freshener,
add 20 drops of essential oil to 500g of baking soda, mix and let sit
for at least a day. Sprinkle over carpets; leave on for an hour or
more, vacuum up.
11 | For a natural flea collar, saturate a short piece of cord or soft rope with Tea Tree oil, roll up in a handkerchief or bandana and tie loosely around the animals’ neck.
12 | Smelly feet or shoes can be remedied with a few drops of Geranium dropped into the shoes or by placing a cotton ball dabbed with a few drops of Lemon inside. Athlete’s foot? Try Tea Tree.
13 | Scent your vaccum cleaner
by putting a few drops of your favourite essential oils or aroma blends
on a cotton ball and placing it in your vacuum cleaner bag.
Suggestions: Pine, Lemon, Eucalyptus & Lemongrass.
14 | To fragrance your kitchen cabinets and drawers, place a food scent (such as cinnamon or clove) dabbed on a cotton ball in a corner.
15 | Are mice or ants a problem? Place several drops of Peppermint oil on cotton balls and place them at problem locations.
16 | The bathroom is easily scented
by placing of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends onto
cotton balls and place them in inconspicuous places or sprinkling oils
directly onto silk or dried flower arrangements.
17 | Promote the healing of cust and scrapes by applying one or two drops of pure Lavender and Tea Tree oils directly to cuts, scrapes or scratches.
18 | Homemade soaps are pleasant and offer therapeutic effects when scented with essential oils.
19 | Homemade sachets are more fragrant when of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends are blended with the flowers and herbs.
20 | Calm nerves or uplift mood by adding of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends onto a radiator or scent ring.
21 | When traveling and over-nighting in a hotel, try putting a few drops of of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends on
a tissue and place over a lampshade. The heat rising from the light
bulb will help diffuse the oil into the room. Ensure the tissue does
not contact a hot bulb.
22 | Scent your hand washables by adding a few drops of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends in the rinse water.
23 | Patchouli, when used in small doses, suppresses the appetite; When used in large does will increase the appetite. Put one drop under your nose or wear as a perfume.
24 | Essential oils or blends make wonderful perfumes.
Create your own personal essence blend; Try 25 drops of any combination
of essential oils or aroma blends to 1 oz of perfume alcohol or carrier
oil.
25 | To dispel mosquitoes and other picnic or BBQ pests, put a few drops of Citronella oil in the melted wax of a candle or place a few drops on the BBQ coals.
26 | Eliminate warts by applying one drop of Lemon essential oil daily until the wart is gone.
27 | Promote alertness and stimulate memory with Rosemary. Inhale occasionally during long car trips and while reading or studying.
28 | Selling your home? Fragrance helps to sell! In the kitchen add the aroma of spices by simmering a few drops of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends in a diffuser.
29 | Create a warm, cheerful and inviting mood in your home by using Geranium in diffusers throughout the home. Add a few drops of Orange oil to furniture polish and wipe down the wood.
30 | Add essential oils to paper mache, the result helps to create a lovely aromatic art piece.
31 | Infuse bookmarks and stationary with essential oils. Place a few drops of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends drops
on paper and put them in a plastic bag. Seal it and leave overnight to
infuse the aroma. Send only good news in perfumed letters!
32 | Make more memorable soft goods gifts like neck pillows, padded and decorated hangers by putting a couple of drops of any combination of essential oils or aroma blends on them before giving.
32 | Party hard last night? Juniper, Cedarwood, Grapefruit, Lavender, Rosemary and Lemon
help soften the effects of a hangover. Make your own blend of these
oils – use approx. 2 drops each and add a total of 20 drops in the
bath.
32 | Add scent to your firewood. Cypress, Cedarwood, Frankincense and Pine all
make wonderful firewood oils. Drop approximately 2 or 3 drops of oil or
blend on a dried log and allow time for the oil to soak in before
putting on the fire.
32 | Flies and moths dislike Lavender.
Sprinkle it on the outside of your window frames or onto strips of
material and hang by windows or doors or wear it as a lotion.
32 | Before going to bed place 1 or 2 drops of sleep enhancing oils such as Chamomile, Lavender, Neroli or Marjoram on your pillow for a restful sleep. Or try our Escents Sleep blend on the pillow or in a diffuser.
32 | When moving into a new home, first use a water spray containing your favourite essential oils and change the old environmental scent to your own. Do this for several days to enhance the comfort of your new space.
32 | Ideal scents for the bedroom are Roman Chamomile, Geranium, Lavender and Lemon.
32 | Polish copper with gentle buffing by placing one drop of Lemon essential oil on a soft cloth.
40 | When washing out the fridge, freezer, oven or floors, add 15-10 drops of Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Mandarin or Orange essential oil to the wash & final rinse water.
41 | For burns and scalds, drop Tea Tree and / or Lavender directly onto the affected area.
42 | Aid digestion and relieve upset stomach by placing one drop of Peppermint to 1 oz of massage oil and massage in circular motions on the stomach.
43 | Bring out a radiant glow in your skin by adding one drop of Geranium oil to your facial moisturize. Like the result? Try the wonderful Escents Skin Care Line!
44 | Cool the body in the summer and protect it in winter by putting 6 to 8 drops of Eucalyptus oil in the bath. Blend the Eucalyptus with carrier oil first, then put into the bath for better dispersal.
45 | Promote hair growth and thickness by placing 1 or 2 drops of Rosemary on your hairbrush before brushing, or try Escents Hair products!
46 | When the flu is going around add a few drops of Eucalyptus, Rosemary or Tea Tree to your diffuser or simmer in a pan on the stove or better yet, use Escents respiration blend.
47 | To help bring a fever down sponge the body with cool water to which 1 drop each of Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Lavender oils have been added.
48 | Clear up stale air in the office with a blend of Lavender and Grapefruit oil. Lavender creates a calm, tranquil atmosphere while Grapefruit stimulates the senses.
49 | A wonderful massage blend for babies is 1 drop Roman Chamomile, 1 drop Lavender, 1 drop Geranium diluted in 2 tablespoons Sweet Almond oil.
50 | A little too much sun? To help with sunburn recovery blend Lavender, Tea Tree and Chamomile to Comfrey Gel and apply to affected area. Or try Escents Aloe Vera Skin Repair spray or Lavender Hydrosol spray (keep it in the fsolid so that it goes on cool).
51 | Prevent stretchmarks naturally Escents' Bath Melt Bars
are AMAZING for pregnant women! As our tummies grow, the skin stretches
and gets itchy so the bath melt bars actually help prevent the itching
and help keep them soft and smooth. Use in the bathtub or just rub in
