Aromatherapy Using Essential Oils for Dandruff Dandruff is an itchy, annoying scalp condition that responds well to treatments using essential oils. By using essential oil enriched shampoos and scalp treatments rather than ones that are chemically derived, you can get dandruff under control, with less chances of negative side effects like scalp/skin irritation. Below are a few ways you can use essential oils to help with dandruff.
Essential Oil Shampoos and Conditioners for Dandruff There are a number of essential oils that can help with dandruff, including: eucalyptus, tea tree, lemon, rosemary, cedarwood, geranium, juniper berry, peppermint, cypress, lavender, patchouli, clary sage, and lime. Using shampoos that contain a combination of these essential oils regularly is a good practice for those who have dandruff. Our Vitalize Shampoo for Dandruff/Psoriasis with eucalyptus and tea tree is an ideal choice. You can follow up with either our Balance Conditioner with rosemary and geranium for normal hair, or our Stimulate Conditioner with peppermint and rosemary for normal to oily hair.
Essential Oil Enriched Cider Vinegar Treatment for Dandruff In addition to using essential oil enriched shampoos and conditioners, you can also create a cider vinegar rinse, a natural way to further your efforts to keep dandruff at bay. Blend together 1 tablespoon cider vinegar, 25ml of spring water and 4-15 drops of chosen essential oils. See our custom blending for tips on essential oil blending. Store in a jar and massage 1 teaspoon of the blend into your scalp every night before you go to bed. The scent will dissipate as it dries.
