Aromatherapy Using Essential Oils for Poor Circulation

The use of essential oils for circulation is one natural way to stimulate blood flow. In minor cases, people experience cold hands and feet, cramping after walking distances, occasional numbness in the feet or toes, and skin problems. Low energy levels and poor skin tone are all potential side effects of poor circulation. The body also loses its ability to heal and recover quickly, and toxins are not removed as efficiently from the body. Poor circulation can result from other physical conditions such as unmanaged stress, pregnancy, smoking, lack of exercise, poor nutrition, etc.

Essential Oil Baths for Poor Circulation

There are several essential oils which have a direct effect on the circulatory system. Some, such as juniper, ginger, sandalwood, and peppermint help facilitate blood flow. Others, such as cypress, geranium, frankincense and lemon have astringent properties, toning the vessels. Grapefruit is in its own category and is known as both a tonic and a stimulant for the circulatory system. Adding any of these or a combination thereof to a warm bath can be beneficial for facilitating blood flow. For a blended option, try our Muscle Relief Bath Salts with peppermint and cypress.

Essential Oil Massage for Poor Circulation

Massage, which increases circulation, can also encourage the intake of the medicinal properties of essential oils. Try our Circulation Stimulating Essential Oil Bath & Massage Oil recipe, which combines a number of the above oils. Another option is to try our pre-blended Muscle Relief Bath & Massage Oil. Both of these can be used either as a massage or bath oil.
