Aromatherapy Using Essential Oils to Treat Bronchitis
Essential oils can be very effective for treating acute bronchitis (bronchial infections) because they can help soothe both the symptoms and the associated pain. They can be administered in a variety of ways to provide relief from chest pain and congestion. Essential oils that are useful for treating bronchitis include: Eucalyptus Radiata, Rosemary, Lavender, Peppermint, Pine Needle, Tea Tree, Niaouli, Marjoram, Frankincense, Clove Bud, and Cedarwood.
Essential Oil Vapour Inhalation for Bronchitis
A steam inhalation serves to break up mucous and reduce coughing. Bring a kettle of water to a boil then pour into to a large bowl. Add 5 drops of any of the above essential oils or our Respiration Essential Oil Blend, specifically created to help with blockages to the respiratory tract. Bring your face over top of the bowl then cover both your head and the bowl with a towel. Breathe deeply for 10 – 15 minutes. Repeat this 2-3 times a day. For vapour therapy throughout the day or as you sleep add any of the above essential oils to an ultrasonic diffuser when suffering from bronchitis. These act as air purifiers, serving to clean the of irritating particles that can cause coughing fits. They also act as humidifiers to help you breathe easier.
Using an Essential Oil in a Warm Bath for Bronchitis
