Treating Acne with Essential Oils & Other Products

Essential oils or products containing essential oils can be helpful for treating acne. Essential oils have anti-septic, anti-bacterial, and skin healing properties that help get rid of and prevent acne. When combined with an appropriately chosen skin care regimen, essential oils can be an effective way of controlling acne.

Skin Care for Acne

An important part of preventing and controlling acne is using the right products for your skin type. No matter what your skin type, if you use the wrong products for your skin it can cause irritation and inflammation that can lead to acne. We offer skin care products for all types, with our Thera-Skin products at the head of the pack. Consult our skin type chart to find the right products for you. If you're particularly prone to acne, our Thera-Skin AHA-BHA Mousse Cleanser is the best choice. Our Thera-Skin Zinc & Sulfur Facial Mask with eucalyptus can be used by anyone to help clear up problem areas, but can also be used regularly for people with acne prone skin. Follow up all cleansing with our Thera-Skin Pore-Purifying Astringent Toner with eucalyptus and tea tree. Use a non-greasy moisturizer like our Thera-Skin Oil-Free Hydrating Fluid.

Treating Existing Acne using Essential Oils

Our Blemish B’gone Acne Treatment Gel contains a powerful combination of tea tree oil and lavender oil, blended in a base of healing comfrey gel. Alternatively, either tea tree or lavender can be used directly on skin to help treat acne. A drop or two on affected areas is enough to do the trick. Other essential oils that can help when diluted in a good carrier like comfrey gel include: rosemary, bergamot, cypresscedarwood, geraniumjuniper berry, lime, niaoulipatchouli, rosewood, eucalyptus, rosepeppermint, grapefruit, clary sage, ylang ylang, and spearmint. Do not pick at or squeeze your acne! This can spread the bacteria and increases the chance of scarring.
