Aromatherapy Using Essential Oils for Bruises
When combined with first aid, essential oils can be an effective way of treating bruises. They can help reduce pain and swelling, as well as speed up healing times. Essential oils that can help with bruising include all of the following: cypress, fennel, rosemary, lavender, roman chamomile, geranium.
First Aid Using Essential Oils for Bruises
At the onset of a bruise, take immediate action to treat the affected area. Prepare a bowl of cold water with 3-6 drops of any of the above essential oils (or a combination). One combination that we recommend is as follows: 2 drops lavender, 3 drops rosemary, 1 drop geranium. Soak a small towel in the bowl and apply the cold compress for 10 minutes. Do this 1-2 times a day.
Topical Essential Oil Treatments for Bruises
In addition to cold compresses, you can also apply topical essential oil treatments. Our Bruise & Wound Treatment Gel is specifically designed for this purpose. You can also try creating your own topical treatments by adding a combination of the above essential oils to a base of comfrey gel or a carrier oil. Consult our Essential Oil Home Blending Guide for tips. Apply any such topical treatment directly to the bruise up to 4 times a day. |
